So here it is, Meredith W. starts a blog. I never thought i’d plunge into blogging, but it’s time to create an outlet for my brain. Its been 4 months since I officially moved back to Virginia. After almost 4 years living in Sydney, I’m back in the good old US of A, in my small (very small) hometown, strategically searching for a career in D.C. I live across the street from a gun store with a cannon out front. It’s different, weird, and I’m pretty sure i’ve been suffering from reverse culture shock since arriving home. This blog will help me settle back into American culture (everyone blogs right?) and will evolve and grow with me. I suspect the stories you read here will be entertaining, honest, and highlight some of the craziest and happiest moments I’ve experienced. I’m not your average 26 year old (if there is such a thing) and by sharing my experiences, I hope to pass on a few words of wisdom. Topics to look forward to…
New City-New Rules, Job Hunting/Networking, Hospital Mayham, Colombian Rebels, Opposite Sex Encounters, Trials and Tribulations of a One Sided Love Story, Working Woman, Firsts, Strong Hearts and Strong Minds, Relationship Don’ts, Mexico-Hit and Run, Sailing the Carribean Sea…and much much more.
Here’s what you need to know right now:
Whatever I do and where ever I am, I want to help make the world a better place and continue to strive to become a better person. I constantly struggle for self improvement and seek out new challenges. Putting a smile on someone else’s face or getting someone to giggle keeps me happy. I am a traveler and adventurer at heart, there is no where in the World I wouldn’t go and no person I wouldn’t talk to (unless they’re holding a weapon). I’m obsessed with learning from and about different cultures and I have exposed myself to over 25 countries. My favourite is Latin America, especially Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia, and I want to own a house in one of these countries before the U.S. I followed a dream to Sydney, Australia and ended up completing a dual M.A degree in International Communications and World Politics, while working with Australia’s top Magazine Publishing Company, ACP Magazines. I love spicy Mexican food (real Mexican not TexMex) and Sushi, which i’ll eat any time of day, and think avocados make any dish better. I am loud and often don’t think before I speak or hit send. I’ve learned to overcome anxiety and ADD, but often at the price of planning my life to excess. I feel unbalanced when I don’t exercise, and discovered yoga/meditation is the best medicine to soothe my anxious heart and mind. I was a hopeless romantic for one man, and in the past i’ve lived my life for the story I can tell later. Stay tuned, it’s all being written here on my blog site, owhataworld.wordpress.com.
